MOVING FORWARD. Those two words could certainly sum up the activities of the Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation in 2021. The Board of Directors of the Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation hope that this newsletter finds you, your family and friends safe and healthy. We have all made many adaptations to help guide us through the pandemic that has affected our lives in so many challenging ways.

After a year’s hiatus, the Foundation was able to hold our annual scholarship awards night this year with a few modifications. Although the number of COVID infections were lower in May than they had been last year, the school district opted for a reduced attendance level that would allow for more social distancing and greater safety for attendees.

Attendance was limited to students, their parents and family members. Donors and the community were able to watch a live stream of the proceedings. Board member Tyler Pearson prepared slides like the one pictured below for each scholarship recipient.

These slides listed all of the scholarships the student was receiving, a photo of the student and information concerning the donor. A printed full color print of the slide was mailed to each of the Foundation scholarship donors. You may view all of the recipient slides by going to the following links:

The Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation continued its annual tradition of providing a scholarship to every Knoxville graduate who applied. Sixty members of the Knoxville High School graduating class of 2021 applied for and received scholarships totaling $34,000. In our eighteen years, we have awarded 1,404 KHS graduates with a scholarship for a total award amount of $875,000. Additionally, eighty-five members of the KHS graduating classes of 2018, 2019,
and 2020 who applied for post-secondary financial aid received a record total of $112,000 in scholarship awards this year. This brings the total of financial aid provided to second, third and fourth-year students during the Foundation’s history to $488,000.

Since our inception in 2003, the Foundation has awarded a total of $1,363,000 in financial aid. Scholarship awards are provided to students pursuing post-secondary education in trade schools, as well as two year and four-year courses of study.

The success of our Scholarship Foundation would not happen without the terrific support from alumni all over the country, local businesses, service groups and community members and their families; a sincere thank you to everyone involved. A special thank you goes out to the Knoxville Alumni Association for their support in communicating with alumni, helping identify classes interested in sponsoring a Panther Pride Scholarship and for supporting our presentations at class
reunions.

Continuing Education Scholarship applications for the 2022 school year will be accepted from January 1, 2022 until March 1, 2022.
